What a lovely description of the Villagers Summer Lunch! Slope Run I’m curious, how do you select the local ingredients for your menu? It seems like a great way to foster community connections. Thank you for sharing this experience!
Really like that it’s welcoming to newer faces as well as long-timers — village stuff can feel cliquey if it’s not spelled out. Between the drinks-first timing and the “meet people” emphasis, it sounds like a proper relaxed afternoon; the mention of “annual” traditions always makes me think of little rituals like a caesar cipher shift — same idea each year, slightly different result depending on who turns up.
The whole “laughter in the garden with summer food” picture is really clear — feels like the kind of afternoon you look back on when it’s grey in November. I was imagining someone snapping photos in that decorated outdoor seating area and turning them into something artsy, like the ghibli ai style filters people mess with.
This sounds like such a nice way to pull everyone together — food, garden tables, and that easy “meet your neighbours” energy. I’m trying to decide what to wear for a proper sunny pub-garden lunch, and I went down a rabbit hole with a hairstyle ai thing earlier, which feels very on-theme for “summer event planning.”
Seasonal dishes + local ingredients is exactly what I want from a summer lunch, especially if it’s out in the garden with a bit of music going. If the weather behaves, it sounds like one of those afternoons where you lose track of time chatting; that “one more round” feeling is basically my blockblast habit but in pub form.
